Boyd’s Creek is getting its first traffic light at Old Sevierville Pike.
What do you think about that?
Some are going to say ‘it’s about time’ and love it while others will stew for months thinking ‘why can’t they just leave it alone’.
It’s called change. That is one of the only things constant in life, change.
Can’t stop it but we can control it to a point.
Some change is great, while others, not so much.
Living in a public world and to expect nothing to change is in my opinion very selfish.
One can’t continue to think of only themselves. It’s important to think of the entire community as a whole.
The powers to be need to consider correcting the heavy congestion at the schools, at Hwy 411 and the vital one on Chapman in front of Fire Station 1.
Seymour has grown and continues to grow. With growth comes some pain.
Good planning is the key to making that growth pain-free. For that we need good leaders that are willing to sacrifice their time and knowledge for the betterment of all.
Take a look at our country. We have a leader, but as far as good planning and going in the right direction, that doesn’t seem to be happening yet.
He was voted into office because people wanted change. But the people voted on emotion rather than substance. That happens far too often and the people end up paying for it.
The most popular or well like individual is not usually the best person for the position.
Change does take time, but all indication so far is that we are heading down the wrong path.
What are we going to do about it? That’s what going to make the difference.
How do you make the crop grow – by actively working at it. I’m not a farmer, but even I know that basic principle.
The more you put into something the more you get back.
Take for example our children. Most parents don’t have the time to put into their kids. Consequently what do they get back?
Practically strangers. But that’s another column.
I like most enjoy driving on Boyds Creek from Chapman Hwy to Hwy 66 without the interruption of having to stop at a light. Just as I am happy to drive from the last light at Titsworth Springs Road in Seymour to Sevierville on Chapman Hwy with no lights. But soon, I’m certain there will be a light at the Wye Drive and Chapman intersection.
Compare that drive with the one from Seymour to Knoxville, about the same distance, but nearly twice as long.
But that’s growth and change.
We need to encourage our leaders to do proper planning while listening to the needs and wishes of their constituents. Or perhaps we need to change our leaders.
That power is in your vote.
