He may be new to Boyds Creek Elementary School but George Percelly isn't new to law enforcement. The veteran Sevier County Sheriff's Department officer became the new resource officer for Boyds Creek Elementary School when school opened this year. "I love it here," stated Percelly. I love the kids and working with them."
Percelly's own daughter, Cori, is a student at the school so he gets to visit with his daughter each day at school.
While many desks are typically in the main office, Percelly prefers to have his desk right at the main entrance. "Everyone has to come right past me to get in here, " stated Percelly. "If someone comes into the school they need to come by here and sign in first."
Percelly says he likes visiting the classrooms and working with the students. He says he'll be teaching the D.A.R.E. program this year as well as starting a new program called Bully Busters. "It's a great program. We will be starting it soon," stated Percelly.
As well as being a resource officer Percelly says he likes to teach the students a little Spanish or German when he has time. He also likes to talk about Geography since he has traveled to some many places.
When I asked students what they thought of Officer Percelly being their new Resource Officer they just smiled and said, He's great!"

I personally know Officer Percelly and his family. Boyd's Creek School is lucky to have him! Congratulations!
I met Officer Percelly in Boone's Landing in May. He seemed to really enjoy meeting and talking with the residents. As I work for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office (Florida), we found that we had a lot in common, not to mention our German heritage. Obviously he has changed his plans for retirement this fall. Boyd's Creek School will be in good hands. Congratulations to Officer Percelly on his new assignment.
