On Thursday afternoon, July 3rd, two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle at approximately 12:57pm. The incident occurred on Eastgate Road near Broad Avenue close to downtown Sevierville.
According to Sgt. Robbie Ball of the SPD, the two pedestrians appeared to be walking on the north side of the road when they stepped into westbound traffic and were struck by a 2008 Honda Civic.
Both pedestrians, 18-year old Angela Nelson and 17-year old Jonathan Ownby, both of Sevierville, were flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center via Lifestar air ambulance. The Sevierville Fire Department and Sevier County Ambulance Service also responded.
The driver of the Civic, 34-year old Jason Watson of Maryville, was uninjured. No citations were issued.
