The Pixie drive in was located on the West Side of Chapman Highway.  It was on the hill above my house.  Everybody circled the Pixie when they had a car to drive or when they were on a date.  The sign was a 50’s style flashing neon arrow with neon letters.   The Pixie was a source of after school and summer jobs for the kids who lived in Seymour.

In the 60’s we still cooled our homes with electric fans.  Many Friday and Saturday nights were filled with so much engine revving, horn blowing and loud music that it was hard to sleep.  I used to have nightmares that someone would come off the hill and land on our house.  There were no trees on the hill directly behind it and at the time it seemed possible.

In the 1960’s Mrs. Hubert Smothers ran the Pixie Drive In.  Mrs. Smothers was the founder of Buddy’s Barbecue.   Several different restaurants have been in the building for a short time.  Two J’s Pizza has been in the building for several years.
