Monday at 10:36 P.M. the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department was called to a structure fire at 632 Hills Gate Cir just off of North Pitner Rd.
Firefighters arrived to find a single story house under construction with fire in a bedroom. The firefighters entered the home and quickly extinguished the fire. The fire origin is undetermined at this time and the scene was turned over to Sevier Co. Sheriff's Department Fire Investigator Fred Atchley. No injuries were reported. Engine 4, Engine 7, Engine 12, Support 17 and 12 firefighters responded to the fire.
Wednesday at 5:39 P.M. Seymour Volunteer Fire Department was called to a barn fire at 305 Valentine Way in the Oak City Community. The firefighters arrived to find a large barn fully involved in fire which had spread into a wooded area.
The fire was quickly contained and extinguished. The barn was scheduled to be disassembled and the wood was going to be salvaged and used to construct a smaller outbuilding.
It appears that the fire apparently started from a nearby brush pile fire which was pushed by the wind. The owner of the property is Roy Valentine, no injuries were reported. Engine 5, Engine 9, Engine 12, Squad 18, and 12 firefighters responded to the fire.
