home invasion nets nearly instant deputy response

published: October 11 2008 06:50 AM updated:: October 15 2008 10:34 AM
According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at 1999-2 McCleary Road Sevierville, from a female resident who was at home with her five year old daughter.
According to reports a white male suspect kicked in the back door and entered the home brandishing a large knife and assaulted the victim demanding money.
 The suspect forced the victim into a bedroom and after taking a bible which he believed to contain money, fled the scene.
Within four minutes Cpl. Brad Wilds and his K-9 located the suspect at McCleary Road near Rays Gap Road and detained the suspect.  Detectives John D. Brown and Matthew Cubberley arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation which then lead to another suspect involved in the robbery.
The two detectives identified and arrested the second suspect.  Christopher Fredrick Garrett of Deerfield Park Sevierville and Kevin Burns of 154 Panther Creek Road have been charged with Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Kidnapping, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Burglary, and Aggravated Assault.
 Both are being held at the Sevier County Jail under a $250,000 bond pending a November, 10th 2PM court appearance.

Great work by our local sheriff's department. Sadly this probably won't get the coverage that the inaccurate story of the recent suicide by a woman facing eviction obtained.

Jeff,

I believe you read the story on the Seymour Herald News site.

How does that not get coverage?

Jeff,

Yep, all of em are a bunch a druggies they reap what they sew. What a shame

#6 Tommy Chong commented, on October 18, 2008 at 1:28 a.m.:

It's "reap what you sow" ok? Sewing has nothing to do with farming, hence the verb "sow". You're not on prescription drugs, are you?

Etymology: from the idea that the quality of the seeds that you sow (= put into the ground) grow into the kind of plants that you are able to reap (= cut and collect)
