smokies seeks volunteers for trail projects at greenbrier and clingmans dome

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is currently seeking energetic volunteers to work with Park trail crews to improve two popular Park trails.  The paid crew members are funded by the Friends of the Smokies through a new initiative called Trails Forever.
Trails Forever is partnership program between the Park and the Friends that will make lasting improvements to trails throughout the park by funding additional trail staff and employing volunteer trail workers to help upgrade the over 800 miles of trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Thanks to a generous donation from the ASLAN Foundation of Knoxville, Trails Forever is currently working on two projects.  The first is a rehabilitation of the Ramsey Cascades trail in the Greenbrier area of the park, near Gatlinburg. The other is a rehabilitation of a section of the Forney Ridge trail below Clingmans Dome, near Andrews Bald.
Park Superintendent Dale Ditmanson said, “We are interested in hearing from people who enjoy being in the outdoors and love visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, and want to contribute to improving the Park.”
