GREENEVILLE - Three hundred and forty-six students were graduated during commencement ceremonies on Dec. 13 at Tusculum College.
Among those graduating with bachelor of arts degrees in human growth and learning, elementary education, were Tiffany E. Anderson of Pigeon Forge, Amy A. Woolum of Gatlinburg, Lisa M. Ivey of Dandridge, Tracy R. Gallant and Patti M. Howell of Sevierville, and Cathi L. DeBusk and Mary E. Rogers of Seymour.
Earning bachelor of science degrees in organizational management were Mark B. Strange of Newport; and Dorothy L. Cole, Gregory P. “Buck” Householder, Jr., Marie T. Jackson, and Ryan H. Newman of Sevierville.
Strange graduated with summa cum laude honors. DeBusk and Ivey graduated with magna cum laude honors. Gallant graduated with cum laude honors.
Gallant and Ivey also were members of the Omicron-Psi National Honor Society.
Strange, who is a police officer in Gatlinburg, was chosen by the faculty as a speaker for commencement. Strange recalled how he had promised his parents he would earn a college degree when they allowed him to enter the U.S. Air Force after his high school graduation.
After his military career, he returned to his native Newport as a police officer and decided to go back to school, finding success with the help of his family, fellow classmates, and professors and staff at Tusculum.
