SEYMOUR – Ashley’s Dance Academy is sponsoring a clogging workshop with Blake Bartlett on January 10 at the academy, located at 11027 Chapman Highway.
Bartlett is an internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer and instructor, and her instructional choreography abilities have made her one of the nation’s most sought-after instructors.
Bartlett and three of her students appeared on the 2008 hit television show “America’s Got Talent,” making it to the semi-finals in Las Vegas.
She is the director of the Southern Belles, which were the 2002 and 2005 Clogging Champions of America, and the 2002 and 2003 Clogging Champions of America Team of the Year.
In 2003, Bartlett appeared on “Dance Fever” with three other dancers, and as winners of their episode, they moved on to the grand finals, where they placed in the top five of contestants from around the country.
Bartlett and her sister, Heather, also coordinate and contract dancers from around the country to perform annually at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo. Along with several other dancers from the Clogging Connection, Bartlett spends most of her summers performing at Silver Dollar City with these and other dancers from across the U.S.
Cloggers ages 5 to 9 will attend the workshop from 9 a.m. to noon. Cloggers ages 10 and up will attend the workshop from 1 to 4 p.m.
The cost is $35 for those signing up in advance. The cost is $40 for those signing up the day of the workshop. ETC Cloggers are strongly encouraged to attend.
Bartlett will work on technique and help children become better cloggers with her knowledge as a professional instructor.
