The recently opened Little Caesars on Chapman Hwy in Seymour was robbed sometime after midnight Friday night.
Employees arrived at Little Caesars Saturday morning to find the electric power had been cut to the building. Soon after, they discovered the safe was gone.
The safe, located in a built-in location, was removed from the built-in area. The burglars apparently only took the safe and left everything else intact.
According to sources, the power and telephone lines were also cut to Yamato’s Japanese Steak House, but nothing was stolen.
“You could tell they tried to break into the back door with all the marks on it,” an employee told the Seymour Herald.
Zmex was another victim of the thieves last night. “They broke in by the back door and couldn’t steal the safe so they figured out how to open it,” stated a Zmex employee.
The Zmex employee stated that they apparently cut the power to the strip mall but somehow missed their space.
Apparently there were cameras in the back of the building. The video shows a white van and individuals. The video is in the hands of Seiver County Detectives who feel pretty confident they will be able to get good leads from the video.
Little Caesars didn’t open as scheduled today due to the severed electric had to be reconnected.
The Sevier County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
