A new auto body shop has recently moved to Seymour.
    Downtown Autobody of Seymour opened its doors in late October and owner Dave Clark said business has been good.
    “Seymour needed a body shop,” Clark said. “There is nothing between here and Sevierville and nothing between here and Knoxville where people can get their car bodies repaired.”
    Clark opened the first Downtown Autobody in Alcoa in 2001 and the second in 2008 before expanding the business to Seymour.
    He said his shop in Alcoa was drawing several residents out of Seymour who said they wished they had a closer, more convenient auto shop in the area.
    “We have done a lot of studying about the area up here, got lucky and fell right into this place,” Clark added.
    Downtown Autobody offers towing and on-site rental accommodations, complete insurance claims handling, state-of the-art equipment, guaranteed paint matching, complete four-wheel alignment, regular progress updates, I-CAR Gold Class certified technicians, ASE certified technicians, and wax, polish and detail service.
    Shop manager, and longtime resident of Seymour, Monte Jones said the shop does repairs for almost all major insurance companies and “99.9 percent” of their business comes from insurance repairs.
    “All of the equipment is new,” Clark said. “We came up here and did everything state-of-the-art.”
    Downtown Autobody does almost all of its work in-house to insure quality and soon all of the work will be done in-house when their alignment racks are set up.
    Clark said that since the opening business at the new shop has been doing well.
    “We had people dropping cars off before we were even open,” he said. “It’s been surprising. It has actually gone really well so far.”
