Long time Sevierville police reservist Arnold Whaley is retiring after 37 years of dedicated service to the community.
He has worked countless hours patrolling the streets and assisting the officers.
Residents have likely seen him at many youth events and ball games as well as Christmas parades and road races working to make sure that the event was safe for all who attended.
Although classified as part-time, most of the hours Whaley worked were volunteered in service to the city.
“It takes a special person who will dedicate so much of his life to the community, and he holds a special place in our hearts,” said Sevierville Police Chief Don Myers. “The reserve position can be filled but Arnold cannot be replaced.
“Even though he is retiring, Arnold will always be a member of the Sevierville Police Department Family.”
