Incumbent Senator Raymond J. Finney, Republican for the 8th District is facing two Republicans and one Independent in the August Primary election.

The two Republicans are Douglas Overbey and James Bishop. The Independent is Ira Lapides.

As a Public service to the residents/voters of this District, Sevier County chapter of TN. Right to Life will host a Forum-style Debate.

Moderators will ask the candidates pre-determined questions unknown by the candidates. Each will respond to the same question so the audience will know where the candidates stand on the issues.

The questions will cover a variety of issues on Pro-Life, as well as issues of interest both locally, county-wide and involving the State.

This is open to the Public in hopes of educating and informing the people as to candidate’s positions.

Anyone from the audience may ask questions which will be be submitted on a brief form available before the start of the Program

Time will be allowed after the debate portion of the program for as many audience questions as time allows.

According to the TN Right To Life announcement, there is much at stake in the 2008 Elections, at all levels, perhaps more so than any election in recent history, so please bring your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.
