A very good friend past on a short time ago and this is the first I’ve been able to deal with it.
Darrel Dennis Gibson was his name. He died at age 76.
I don’t know which I’ll miss more, his visits friendship or his great humor.
Darrel was one of the people who had insisted that I run for county commissioner. A position he held a few years back.
I’ll never forget how he and I walked his neighborhood asking for their vote and support.
Nor will I forget the great times we had celebrating his birthdays and our mutual love of flying.
He was a true friend that was there whenever you needed him.
Often you can tell a man by his friends. Darrel was never short of friends. Even his neighbors loved him.
The genuineness and sincerity of Darrel is what I will miss the most.
Often I would sit and visit with Darrel and his wonderful wife Mary about anything. It was just a pleasure to be in the presence of a warm hearted person.
The endless jokes Darrel would relate would keep you in stitches long enough to make your stomach hurt in a good way and tears come to your eyes.
Darrell is the second close friend that I’ve lost in a short period of time.
I’m not excited about getting older for the simple reason that so many good people are passing on.
There are so many good times that I can recall and will for many years to come.
I will miss you Darrel
