does money make the candidate

The Sentinel says Overbey outspent Finney by $100,000 in the race so far.

Does that make for a good candidate?

I decided to research who is supporting Overbey. According to records filed with the Tennessee Campaign Finance by Overbey, his supporters seem to come from some various locations, but not from where you would expect.

Sevier county financial support is extremely anemic compared to monies received from other sources.

Outside of maybe six or eight Sevier County names and addresses I was able to pull out of the list, it appeared that Sevier County is not interested in Overbey.

Big business owners, special interest groups and a considerable amount of supporters from outside of state have an special interest in Overbey.

Finney has received less in the way of contributions according to his fillings. He has admitted that he has never been comfortable in asking for contributions.

Overbey proclaimed that you should never use your own money to finance your campaign.

Finney has been the target of a barrage of negative ads sponsored by Overbey.

Finney has responded by asking Overbey to simply tell the truth.

Overbey has accused Finney of some outlandish claims. Claims such as “Finney wants to raise the gas tax and that Finney is blocking our schools.”

In interviewing Finney, he says, “Nothing could be further from the truth.”

Finney came out of retirement to do what he thought was right. To listen to his constituents and do their work in Nashville.

Overbey seems to be a career politician, which is an individual who is involved in influencing public decision making through the influence of politics or a person who influences the way a society is governed through an understanding of political power and group dynamics.

Finney appears to be a man doing what he feels is right and just for the good of his constituents rather than special interest groups.

I’m very simple when it comes to politics.

If it smells like a duck, walks like a duck and acts like a duck, well, you know that answer.
