The Seymour High School golf team improved to 3-0 Tuesday with a win over county-rival Sevier County at Eagles Landing Golf Course.

The Eagles’ Spencer Rudder paced the team with an individual round of 39, leading SHS to a 166 overall team total score. Sevier County finished the day with a team-score of 183.

Seymour’s Andrew Ramsey shot an individual round of 40, Derrick Rickles shot a round of 43 and Taylor Lindsey, who shot a birdie in a sudden-death one-hole playoff last Thursday to push Seymour to a win over Pigeon Forge, finished Tuesday with an individual total of 43.

Seymour head coach Gary Householder said Sevier County didn’t have enough players on its girls team to compete so the Lady Eagles did not participate in Tuesday’s golf action.

Seymour is next slated to play Claiborne on Thursday at Creekside. Householder said he’s received no word as of Tuesday on the status of Seymour’s season-opener that was rained out as the teams’ final golfers approached the last hole at Rivers Island.
