Area race fans have more reasons to attend Saturday’s dirt-track racing at Seymour’s 411 Motor Speedway than just an evening of exiting action on the track.

Track spokesperson Leslie Corum, who along with her husband Chris have been handling promotions at the legendary track for the last four weeks, said the 411 Raceway recently made an agreement with retail giant Target to offer a special promotion directed at families called the “Target Back to School Night.”

Saturday’s “Target Back to School Night” at 411 Motor Speedway will be loaded with events and contests aimed at making it an occasion that young race fans will not soon forget.

The first 25 kids who enter the grandstand area will be given a card with a number on it. A drawing will be held prior to the first feature of the night and the kid whose card-number matches the number drawn by track officials will get the honor of saying the most famous four words in racing—“Gentlemen Start Your Engines”—before the night’s opening race.

One of the most anticipated promotions planned for Saturday will be a lottery-style Frisbee toss that will reward the lucky winner with a pair of the most sought-after sporting event tickets on the market for race fans.

Corum explained that before the always-popular truck race Saturday night each driver in the field will toss out an autographed Frisbee. The fan who catches the Frisbee with the winning driver’s signature on it wins two free tickets to the Craftsman Series Truck Race in Bristol.

In the past two weeks the number of drivers competing in the truck race at 411 has varied between six and nine. However, Corum said she is anticipating at least 10 truck racers will be on hand Saturday vying to snap rising star Tiffany Sheehan’s four-week winning streak at 411 the truck race.

Regardless of how many different drivers toss Frisbees into the track’s grandstand Saturday night, it’s probably safe to say that the lucky fan who catches the flying disc with Tiffany Sheehan scrawed across it can all but start looking forward to being in Bristol on August 20, the night of the Craftsman Truck Race.

Corum said in addition to the contests at the “Target Back to School Night”, she will be handing out random school supplies to school-aged race fans in attendance. She said the school supplies will be handed out “while supplies last” so fans are advised to arrive at the track early.

Gates open at 5 p.m., said Corum.
