PIGEON FORGE - The Seymour Lady Eagle basketball team improved to 9 and 2 on the season with a 51-35 win Tuesday night over the Pigeon Forge Lady Tigers.

The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Christina Slay with 17 points. Ashleigh Elliot added nine points and Monica Rogers chipped in with eight points.

The Eagles came out on top taking an 8 to 5 lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead was extended to 10 points by half-time, with a score of 23-13.

In the second half, it was more of the same, with the Eagles maintaining a steady lead and winning the game.

The Tigers’ top scorer was Chelsea Webb, with 10 points, and Megan Kilgore, who added eight points.

While the girls held strong in the first quarter and were able to cut the lead at times, they were never able to overcome the deficit from the first half.

The success of the Lady Eagles can be attributed to a great all-around performance by the team.

The boys’ game with Pigeon Forge ended with a victory for the Eagles, as well with a final score of 60-43, giving the Eagles a 6 and 7 record on the season.

Pigeon Forge jumped out with an early 12-4 lead.

The Eagles turned on a tough defense using the full court press and shaved the lead to 8-12 at the end of the first quarter.

Garrett Hillard scored five straight points to give the Seymour Eagles a 25–21 lead at half.

The Eagles came out with strong rebounding and shooting, extending the lead early in the second half with a final score of Eagles 60, Tigers 43.

The leading scores for the Eagles were Carlton Logue with 14 points, Greg Korlin with 11 points and Garrett Hillard with seven points.

Seymour will host Gibbs High School on Tuesday night.

The girls will play at 6 p.m., and the boys game is scheduled to follow.
