six seymour wrestlers qualify for state

The Seymour Eagles Wrestling team has placed six wrestlers in the TSSAA State High School Wrestling Tournament for individuals in Franklin, Tennessee on Friday and Saturday of this week.
They recently qualified in the Region 1 individual tournament at Dobyns Bennett High School in Kingsport, TN.
Final team standings out of 21 teams competing were as follows: (1) Science Hill (297.5), (2) Seymour (159.5), (3) Dobyns Bennett (145), (4) Jefferson County (142.6), and (5) Morristown West (108.5).
The top 4 from each weight advance to this week’s state tournament. Seymour’s individuals were as follows: William Jordan(103 lbs.)(4th), Luke Hall(119lbs)(1st), Trent Williams(130lbs)(1st), Michael Raimondi(135lbs.)(1st), Cody Watson(171lbs)(2nd), Joe Wisell(189lbs)(3rd).
Both Shane Chiplley(160lbs.) and Collin Adams(145lbs.) were one match away from qualifying for the state.
Luke Hall, ranked 2nd in the state, beat the number 4 ranked player in the state from Science Hill in the finals.
Trent Williams redeemed an earlier loss from this year by defeating a Sullivan East wrestler in the finals.
Michael Raimondi ranked 3rd in the state beat his man from Dobbins Bennett in the finals.
Head Seymour wrestling coach Alex Cate had this to say,”I am pleased with the team’s overall performance. We finished 2nd overall and had Jefferson County, Dobyns Bennett and Morristown West on our tails all day. It was exciting to cap off the weekend with three individual region champions.”
“Now the qualifiers have to get focused for the State Tournament this weekend.”
Each weight will be a 32 man bracket with the top 6 wrestlers receiving a metal.
The State Tournament is this Friday and Saturday. Anyone wanting to view the wrestlers brackets and results in real time can go to tssaa.org.
